Trustee sues Medina County Budget Commission over public access to meetings, agendas

MEDINA, Ohio — A Medina County township trustee has sued the Medina County Budget Commission, accusing the board of violating Ohio open meetings laws by limiting public access and allowing unauthorized substitutes to perform official duties.

In a lawsuit filed Friday in Medina County Common Pleas Court, Lafayette Township Trustee Justin Peroli seeks declaratory and injunctive relief over how the commission conducts its meetings. He argues that overcrowded meeting conditions, inadequate remote viewing, and the use of non-members in place of elected officials undermine transparency and violate state law.
