Guns keep getting into Ohio schools. How can the danger be stopped?

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Sarah Demeter no longer feels her children are safe at school.

The 39-year-old mother of five has two kids ages 9 and 15 enrolled in the Parma City School District where, on April 20, a student stashed a semi-automatic pistol in a black backpack, brought it into Valley Forge High School, and fatally shot herself in a cafeteria of kids.

“They’re not focusing on prevention,” Demeter said about the district. “They’re focusing on the response. They’re taking all the funding that they’re getting and they’re putting in place cameras. Well, that’s great. I mean, now you have a video of this little girl committing this terrible act. You know, nothing was prevented.”…
