Local student puts the spotlight on Ohio’s College Credit Plus program

AURORA, Ohio (WJW) — Ari Bernat did things a little differently than most of his classmates at Aurora High School.

While his high school graduation is on the horizon, the Northeast Ohio student has already completed a college degree, officially graduating from Kent State University earlier this month with a bachelor’s degree in business.

“Very surreal just walking across the stage and finally being done with college so early, just doesn’t even feel real,” Bernat told Fox 8 News.

It was a college career that came and went free of charge thanks to Ohio’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program.

The dual-enrollment program allows eligible students to take advanced classes and earn college credits while attending high school. And, it’s all paid for by the state…
