Man charged in 2019 Kingston killing previously beat Albany murder charge

KINGSTON — A man charged with murder in connection with a 2019 killing was previously acquitted of a gang-linked 2006 murder and spent years in prison for an armed home invasion in Albany.

Dushan “Lil Du” Wilson, 37, and Wilbur Reese, 55, face felony murder charges related to the death of DJ Thomas, the Kingston Police Department announced last week. The arrests come more than six years after Thomas was shot in the face and killed at an intersection in the Ulster County city. His case stumped detectives, who were frustrated by the lack of witnesses and information.

Kingston Assistant Police Chief Richard Negron declined to answer questions Thursday about what led to the breakthrough in the investigation, but said it was a “complex” case that “reached the point where arrests could be made.”…
