Menands regrouping after fire disrupts operations

MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The village of Menands continues to regroup after the firehouse caught on fire and disrupted village operations. The building at 250 Broadway was home to the fire house, police department, and village hall.

Menands Mayor Brian Marsh said the village has reached a reciprocal emergency plan agreement with the Menands School. The school will be the designated location for all official meetings as well as upcoming elections.

Menands Seniors are evaluating their options. They have access to the Community Room at Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, the Watervliet Senior Center next to the library, Sacred Heart Church in North Albany, and Colonie Crossings.

After looking at the air quality in the police department, Marsh said the department will handle management functions from temporary spaces at 150 Broadway out of an abundance of caution. Marsh also said they are looking into a rental trailer to process arrests on-site…
