The C-32A, which dons blue-and-white livery and “United States of America” lettering on its side, is typically used to transport high-level government officials, such as the vice president, the first lady, Cabinet secretaries and U.S. ambassadors. Albany airport officials said the aircraft had landed in Albany as part of a training operation, so no dignitaries were on board at the time.

According to the U.S. Air Force, the C-32 is a military version of the Boeing 757-200 commercial intercontinental airliner. While the bodies are identical, the C-32 has different interior furnishings and 21st-century avionics to ensure safe, comfortable and reliable transportation for its high-priority passengers.

The aircraft was first deployed in 1998. As of 2020, only four C-32A planes are in active force.

Its appearance in the Capital Region comes just a month after a Super Mario-themed plane also touched down at the Albany International Airport…
