CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. (WRGB) — National Grid says they’re pausing disconnections for residential electric customers this summer who could have their power shut off for nonpayment.
This is to help protect them from the scorching heat.
The company says they will pause disconnections when the heat index is forecast to be 90 degrees or higher. The pause will continue for two days after that in some areas designated “heat islands.” In the Capital Region, that includes: Albany, Cohoes, Glens Falls, Gloversville, Hudson, Rensselaer, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, Troy, and Watervliet; villages of Colonie, Ft. Edward, Green Island, Hudson Falls, Scotia, and S. Glens Falls; and areas of Clifton Gardens, E. Glenville, Hampton Manor, Latham, Loudonville, Niskayuna, Roessleville, Rotterdam, W. Glens Falls, Westmere, and Wynantskill…
