So far as I can tell, there are two big problems with the proposal to move Albany’s bus terminal to Empire State Plaza.
- It makes too much sense.
- It costs too little money.
In Albany, complexity and a sky-high price tag are often viewed as key components of success, which is why there’s so little of it. By contrast, the plan floated by Joe Bonilla and Sam Fein, a public relations executive and the city auditor, respectively, is beautiful in its simplicity.
Albany needs a new intercity bus station desperately. And as it happens, all the necessary infrastructure is just sitting there underground at the Empire State Plaza Concourse.
