TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A man was rescued from the Poestenkill Gorge Park on Tuesday afternoon. The Troy Fire Department helped get him out of the water of the popular swimming spot before he was sent to the hospital.

Troy Fire Deputy Chief Jared Barringer said the man appeared to have been swimming in an upper pool of the posted area and fell about 15 feet. It took about 45 minutes rescue him using ropes and a rescue basket.
Authorities said the person was in and out of consciousness, but is now conscious and alert. They were sent to Albany Medical Center for treatment of a head injury.

A firefighter injured his ankle during the rescue. He was sent to the hospital as well.
