Data center developer says wheels in motion for city zoning request

ALBANY — The developer behind the Kenwood Commons data center and tech campus project will seek a zoning change for the site under the city’s existing “light industrial” classification.

The 76-acre campus is currently zoned as a mixed-use campus under the city’s zoning regulations.

But representatives of the New York City real estate firm behind the $570 million project told South End community members on Tuesday that they plan to seek a light-industrial designation under the city’s existing zoning regulations to allow for the data center and tech campus, which would accommodate both light manufacturing and research…
