RED HOOK, N.Y. (NEWS10)– A Schenectady man has been arrested by Red Hook Police for alleged financial crimes. According to police, 41-year-old Joseph Blaney is facing multiple felony charges.

Police said on Thursday, around 1 p.m. the Mid Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union contacted the police department for a suspicious person complaint. According to the report, the bank teller thought Blaney was attempting to cash a fraudulent check.
A preliminary investigation determined that Blaney allegedly tried to cash a fake $2,500 check, issued from a local ambulance company. He was arrested on scene.
Charges:
- Possession of a Forged Instrument
- Attempted Grand Larceny
Police said Blaney was processed and turned over to the New York State Police who also had pending charges against him.
