The community is invited to attend the celebration of the new facility, which broke ground a year ago in Knickerbacker Park. The aquatic center replaces the former Knickerbacker Pool, which had been closed and dormant since 2016.
Before the ribbon cutting on Thursday, local officials will deliver remarks. Following the press conference and a ceremonial cannonball with local kids, families are invited to stay and celebrate with free pizza, popsicles, beverages and music. Parents and guardians interested in registering their child for the pool can do so online here.
The new aquatic facility features an eight-lane Olympic-size swimming pool, three interactive splash pads and a spacious pool deck with lounge seating. Amentities also include a modern pool house with changing rooms, showers and restrooms, as well as a handicap-accessible zero-depth walking entrance into the main pool.
