Owners Woke Up to Wreckage

A popular locally owned bakery in Clifton Park is cleaning up after an overnight break-in damaged its storefront and forced the business to close temporarily Thursday morning.

Dolce and Biscotti Fine Italian Bakery shared photos of the damage on social media Thursday, showing a shattered front window, broken glass scattered throughout the entrance and lobby area, and other damage inside the bakery.

Tremendous Amount of Damage

According to the post, police and cleanup crews were at the bakery Thursday morning, and at the time of their initial post, the owners said they had not yet been allowed inside to determine the full extent of the damage.

Closed for a Portion of the Day

The bakery announced it would remain closed to walk-in customers until at least noon Thursday and promised to provide additional updates on Facebook.

For many in Clifton Park, Dolce and Biscotti is more than a place to grab a cupcake or cookie. The family-run Italian bakery began as a small home-based operation with just two people and has grown over the past 20 years into a popular Capital Region destination with more than 20 associates.

Despite the damage, owner Mary ended Thursday morning’s post on a hopeful note, telling customers they expect to see them again at Dolce and Biscotti later in the day…
