CASTLETON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Residents of Castleton-On-Hudson reflected on the historic flooding that hit the village last month.

During that time, first responders from the village and the surrounding areas worked around the clock, answering calls for residents who were impacted by the rainwater.
“We’re lucky we made it like we did,” said resident Michael Davidson. “It was very intense.”

A board meeting at the village’s ambulance building on Brookview Road was held to recognize those first responders on Monday.
“Tonight’s just to say thank you to those folks and also to plan for the next thousand years storm,” said Mayor Michael Slik. “The way that climate change is happening now, we’re going to have another thousand year storm soon and we just need to be prepared for it.”
