ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany County authorities released an update on the demolition of the infamous Central Warehouse on Monday. According to County Executive Dan McCoy and property developer Advance Albany County Alliance, asbestos abatement within the downtown building is nearly complete.
The full demolition process of Albany’s commonly-called “eyesore” launched in August 2025, beginning with a monthslong asbestos removal phase. The abatement was originally expected to take six months, but Advance Albany County Alliance CEO Kevin O’Connor told NEWS10 in March that the process had experienced some delays due to weather.
