The biggest tree in all of New York State is an Eastern Cottonwood located in Rensselaer County. Heck, according to Big Tree Hunters, this beauty is also a contender for the United States Champion Cottonwood.
This tree is as nearly as tall as the sheer drop of Niagara Falls, and 10 feet taller than the Christ the Redeemer state in Rio de Janeiro. You would need 19 average American men stacked head-to-toe to reach 108 feet. Wait until you see this tree. Watch the video below.

Not only is this tree tall, it’s wide measuring at 33 feet 9 1/4 inches in circumference. Picture a full-size 11 foot round trampoline and you are around the same width of this tree.
The Eastern Cottonwood grows incredibly fast at around 4 to 5 feet of height per year in its early years. The lifespan for these trees is short when compared to others with most Eastern Cottonwood trees living between 70 to 100 years.
