ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — One of the state’s highest winning lottery tickets of 2026 was claimed in the Capital Region, New York Lottery (NYL) officials announced on Wednesday. The ticket was the first New York top-prize win of Millionaire for Life, NYL’s newest multi-state draw game.

The ticket was purchased by Edward Stack of Albany. Stack matched all six winning numbers from the game’s May 21 drawing, which were were 3, 15, 16, 24, 28, and the green Millionaire Ball was 4.
The winning ticket was sold at the Price Chopper located at 1 Main Street in Richfield Springs, Otsego County. The game boasts an impressive $1 million-per-year top prize, which can be paid annually over a minimum of 20 years, or can be received as a lump sum payment of $18 million.

Stack opted to take the one-time payment, netting $11,718,001 after all necessary withholdings. The Albany man told New York Lottery that he plans to invests his winnings, and when asked to give advice to anyone else looking to hit it big, he stated “Just play.”
