ALBANY — One of the kicks of this journalism gig is the surprises. You start a column thinking you’re headed in a particular direction, then it turns.
I expected today’s column, for example, to knock Albany County and its executive, Dan McCoy, for the silly court battle with the city over paying school-zone speeding tickets accumulated by employees driving county vehicles. The fight could be described as darn silly and maybe even hilarious, if not for the time being wasted and the insult to taxpaying schmoes.
