ALBANY — The Securities and Exchange Commission is pursuing a civil complaint in U.S. District Court in Albany against a purported New York firm whose overseas operators allegedly used an elaborate online scheme — including touting a counterfeit SEC “registration certificate” — to lure and defraud investors of at least $2 million.
ICHCoin Tech Corp., which has also been listed in New York corporate filings as Indicator Global, Inc., and Wealthtutor Corp., became a target of a Houston-based FBI investigation two years ago for allegedly setting up a sham investment platform that claimed to use artificial intelligence-assisted software to make cryptocurrency trades.
In September 2024, the FBI issued a bulletin stating it was seeking to identify potential victims of ICHCoin. That bulletin noted that victims may have received unsolicited messages on WhatsApp or Telegram, and had been promised definitive returns on investments after being given “free money” as a “loan” to get started…
