Schenectady, NY (WRGB) — A routine traffic stop in Schenectady turned into a weapons and drug arrest after officers recovered a handgun.
On Sept. 10, 2026, at about 6:30 p.m., Schenectady police officers assigned to the Focus Patrol Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of State Street and Veeder Avenue. Police said during the stop, they found a handgun and the arrest of two people on weapons and drug charges.
Jaheim Garland, 25-year-old from Troy, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree; criminal possession of a defaced weapon; and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He also received two traffic summonses…
