SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Schenectady police have made an arrest in connection with a homicide that occurred on Van Vranken Avenue on Wednesday , the department announced on Sunday. Cecil Toland, 19, of Schenectady has reportedly been charged with murder.

The alleged shooting took place at about 3:24 p.m., according to the police department. Upon arrival to the scene, police reportedly found 36-year-old Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. with a gunshot wound to his torso. The victim was taken to Ellis Hospital, where he died a short time later, officials said.
Schenectady police said that they believed the shooting stemmed from a dispute, and the case is being investigated as a homicide. Per the department on Sunday, Toland has been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.
