GREENPORT — A major development for people experiencing homelessness, which could transform how Columbia County houses its homeless population, is expected to break ground by the end of the year.
Like most rural counties in the state, Columbia County places unhoused people in privately run motels that are often poorly maintained, far from social services and cost the county money. But the new development, The Wellness Hub, would include 75 units in three buildings totaling about 65,000 square feet spread over a landscaped campus less than a mile outside Hudson.
