Searchers return to woods a decade after Troy hunter vanished

HORICON — Ten years after Thomas Messick vanished, forest rangers and search-and-rescue experts recently headed back into the woods to search for traces of the missing hunter.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation says three rangers joined 19 members of Lower Adirondack Search and Rescue to examine areas that could reveal clues about Messick’s November 2015 disappearance. A search was held in November to mark the anniversary of his disappearance.
