Albany International Airport is set to unveil the first public portion of its new departure hall on Friday (April 24). This development is part of a $100 million terminal expansion project aimed at enhancing passenger experience. The new section, which spans 6,000 square feet, offers a larger and brighter space for travelers heading to the security checkpoint.
The expansion project, which has been underway for several years, received $60 million from a state grant. Once complete, the new hall will feature a Shaker-themed artwork by artist Jean Shin and will connect directly to the North Parking Garage. The remaining 8,000 square feet of the hall, including a relocated TSA checkpoint, is expected to be completed by next winter.
According to CBS6 Albany, the new departure hall replaces the old pedestrian bridge, offering a more open layout with high ceilings and tall windows. This design aims to reduce congestion and improve comfort for passengers, especially during security checks…
