LOS LUNAS — The Los Lunas Board of Education formally accepted a special audit report on Wednesday, May 20, that identified stipend over payments, evidence of alleged time and leave fraud and “meaningful deficiencies” in governance and compliance — including procurement of legal services and Open Meetings Act violations — within the district.
Before a large audience that appeared to be mostly district employees, the board voted unanimously 5-0 to accept the special audit results.
After the vote, board President Frank Otero thanked the auditors and committed to taking the recommendations seriously.
