Albuquerque police use drones to catch accused card skimmers at a gas station

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department is crediting their newer drones with helping stop two men now accused of stealing credit card numbers from gas pumps.

The bust comes as gas prices have spiked across New Mexico. An alert security guard called APD after spotting suspects in two cars putting credit card skimmers in at a West Mesa gas station. Officers stopped one guy at the pump, while a drone watched the other suspect take off.

“The drone maintained a visual surveillance of the other pickup, the other offender, and he drove quite a ways away from the scene. Again, relayed real-time information to the ground units where they were able to actually apprehend the offender,” said Anthony Montano…
