Summer heat in full swing Wednesday in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — We’re set to see a rapid warm-up Wednesday, from temperatures in the 50s – even some 40s – to temperatures in the 90s and 100s across New Mexico.

Places like Grants and Reserve started in the 40s while Albuquerque started well into the 50s. Temperatures will get well into the 90s with Albuquerque expected to reach 98 degrees and widespread triple-digit temperatures across southern New Mexico.

That means the heat risk is going to be a little higher. It’ll be moderate for most of us but some places could see major to even extreme heat risk, including south and eastern Luna County and southwestern Doña Ana County. You may want to limit your time outside this afternoon, especially during peak heat of the day…
