City creates logos to represent downtown Albuquerque districts for wayfinding program

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – They’re hard-to-miss, mysterious symbols, now blanketing a downtown wall. However, those symbols are meant to help people figure out where things are in downtown Albuquerque.

Icons downtown showed up a few weeks ago at First and Lomas. While they might seem random, the city said each new symbol is meant as new identifiers to represent the five districts in downtown.

“The artwork is part of a greater system that we are developing for downtown. It’s a navigation system. A lot of the signage is very outdated,” said the spokeswoman for the CABQ Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency (MRA) Sarah Supple…
