ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A former Albuquerque Department officer was sentenced to prison on Wednesday for hitting and killing a man while riding a motorcycle off-duty.
Ezekiel Florez resigned from the department after hitting Daniel Trujillo on Central Avenue near Coors Boulevard in May 2025. Florez and his passenger, Krystal Garca, who was also an officer off duty, were riding on the motorcycle at a high rate of speed when they struck Trujillo as he was crossing the street.

Trujillo died from his injuries. Neither Florez nor Garcia stopped to provide aid or call 911 after the crash. Instead, they left the scene and returned approximately four hours later…
