SANDOVAL COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) — A wildfire has been reported in the Jemez Ranger District in the McCauley Springs area on Wednesday morning, according to officials with the U.S. Forest Service-Santa Fe National Forest. Officials say the fire has burned approximately 30 acres.
Officials say the fire is about 30 acres and is demonstrating a high potential for spread. Crews are on the scene. Smoke may be visible from Albuquerque, the Village of Jemez Springs, and surrounding communities.
Evacuations
According to the COO of the YMCA of Central NM, children at Camp Shaver are being evacuated. Parents/guardians can pick them up from the Jemez Valley High School gym from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
The community of Sierra de Los Pinos is in “Go” status is currently under evacuation. Additionally, Jemez Falls Campground has been evacuated and closed, Battleship Campground is closed, and Trail #137 to Battleship Rock is closed for public safety…
