ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A new neon-inspired gateway sign was installed on East Central by the City of Albuquerque on Thursday morning.

The sign will welcome visitors driving into the city and thank them for visiting on their way east out of town. It is part of the city’s effort to celebrate the historic Route 66 corridor ahead of the 2026 Route 66 Centennial.
“Route 66 helped put Albuquerque on the map. This new sign, along with refreshed neon signs in Old Town and Nob Hill, and our sparkling new West Side neon sign celebrate our neon-lit past and welcome people to the city from all corners,” said Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller in a news release…
