ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It has been an active 2026 for New Mexico boxer Josh “Pitbull” Torres. He was in the ring for his second fight of the year in May and will return to the ring July 31. Torres is fighting Alejandro Frias Rodriguez for the UBO Continental Welterweight title.
Torres and Frias Rodriguez are the main event in a card put on by Legacy Promotions. Torres will carry a 30-7-2 record with 18 KO’s into the ring. His opponent, Frias Rodriguez, is 20-13-2. “I know that he’s from Mexico,” said Torres. “He’s a tough fighter. I know he has a lot of upset victories against undefeated fighters that he’s beat, Golden Boy prospects, things like that. So, I know that he’s a dog, but we all know I’m a Pitbull myself. I’m a dog. So, whatever he brings to the table, we’re just going to bring even more.”
At 36 years of age, Torres said he feels better than ever. He has 22 years of experience in the ring and is excited about fighting for the UBO title. He believes it will lead to bigger fights down the road. “The UBO title is going to propel us in the rankings,” said Torres. “It’s going to boost us up a little bit. More than anything, it’s just moving forward in the right direction, getting those victories. I mean, we just saw Abraham Perez. He’s fought for belts like this, and he just fought on the main event in the last time I fought for Legacy Promotions, and look, he just won a world title. So, I think it’s just to get us one step closer to where we need to be to fight for the bigger fights with titles and things like that.”…
