ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A judge is set to sentence an Albuquerque woman in connection with the shooting death of her toddler despite her not pulling the trigger.
Amillia Garcia pleaded guilty to child abandonment in March. Prosecutors say she left her loaded gun on a TV tray. Her 2-year-old, Leon, got a hold of it and shot himself. His 1-year-old sibling was also in the apartment at the time.
Garcia faces up to 23 years in prison. Police also charged other adults who were in the home at the time. Some of them have already also been convicted, including Angel Morales…
