ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man cut a deal for his role in a deadly shooting. Nathaniel Gutierrez, 20, was in court on Wednesday for the death of 18-year-old Michael Gallegos at the Barelas Community Center parking lot last year. Police said Gutierrez, along with two accomplices, planned to rob Gallegos and spent weeks before the murder planning the crime.

“The calculated, relentless stalking, and the violent murder committed did not just end Michael’s life; just, it shattered our entire family. No words can adequately describe the agony of burying your own grandson, unable to help or cure the pain,” said Darlene Clayter, Gallegos’ grandmother.
Judge Brett Loveless sentenced Gutierrez to 17 years in prison as part of a plea deal. One of his accomplices, Jeffery Jojola, also took a plea deal and was sentenced to 15 years. The third accomplice, Robert Rodriguez, is due in court for his sentencing next week…
