ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A fight between a woman and a Catholic church that started on social media escalated to a gun being pulled at the parish. It had Albuquerque religious leaders speaking out Wednesday night to support the church.

Father Vincent Chavez of St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church said he publicly supported an Islamic Mosque to be built in their North Valley neighborhood. He then started receiving messages of hate online from a woman. So, he called her out personally on this church marquee, which last week said “Racism Grave Sin Against God” with her name below it. That led to a gun confrontation.
“You can post all you want; you have freedom of speech on your Facebook to trash me, and I’m experiencing hate and then gun,” said Chavez. “We’re gonna be addressing this issue in our city, in our community of bringing our humanity to peaceful dialogue, dialogue,” said Chavez.
