BERNALILLO — A man who allegedly ran from police was arrested after a K9 located a tampered backpack with drugs in it.
Andrew Sanchez, 40, of Bernalillo, was charged July 16 for trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl as well as tampering with evidence and illegally carrying a weapon near Bernalillo Pet Care on Camino Del Pueblo. Sanchez was released from the scene, but after police received a warrant to search items from the incident, a warrant for his arrest, which was returned July 31, was filed.
According to the affidavit for arrest warrant, a K9 and his officer responded when another officer reported a man, later dentified as Sanchez, ran from him toward the Bernalillo Pet Care. The officer had the man detained said the man ditched a backpack while running from him. He added that neighbors of the man alleged his frequent drug use…
