ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A local developer with a track record of turning empty buildings into local-business hubs lost out on the old Whole Foods property once, but now the door may be open again.

What once was an empty Hastings is now a place where nearly a dozen local businesses have put down roots. It’s been six years since Art Gardenswartz transformed the property at Candelaria and Tramway. The project quickly became one of his favorites. “I saw the iconic value of it being off the bike path, being on the tramway, view of the mountains, and had a passion to convert it to something that the neighborhood and the community would like,” said Gardenswartz.
It’s a formula he believes can work again, this time at a property that has sparked plenty of debate…
