Good morning!
Another seasonable to mild morning for many across the Land of Enchantment and southwest Colorado. Temperatures have fallen into the 50s, 60s and 70s. Many New Mexicans are waking up to clouds and blue skies to start the holiday weekend. Saturday’s forecast has above normal high temperatures along with showers and storms. Highs today are forecasted to reach the 80s, 90s and 100s across New Mexico. Isolated to potentially scattered showers and storms are forecasted to develop later today. Wet weather is expected to favor the high terrain in southern New Mexico along with the northern mountains. Storms may also develop in eastern and northeast New Mexico for today too. The National Weather Service has a Flood Watch in place for the Ruidoso Burnscar region for the potential for storms to drop locally heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flood concerns. The watch will be in effect from 11 AM – 6 PM today.
Monsoon moisture will be around throughout the rest of the weekend into next week. Scattered showers and storms are expected again on Sunday and Monday across the state that could bring locally heavy rainfall. Right now, a decrease in coverage is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday as drier air and thinner moisture enters the forecast.
