ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE News is hearing what a New Mexico man told police the moment he was arrested in a Westside neighborhood after being accused of standing outside an Albuquerque Police Department officer’s home with a rifle.
Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office arrests man accused of harassment in westside neighborhood
Kenneth Bair is accused of walking around, armed, in Ventana Ranch and threatening an APD officer. Investigators said that on multiple occasions, Bair was captured on video, walking through the neighborhood with an “AR-style rifle.” Deputies said Bair was in all-black military-style gear, taking videos of the neighborhood on his phone. Another time, Bair was in shorts but still visibly carrying the AR-style rifle and a sidearm on his hip.
Investigators said Bair was focused on harassing and threatening the family of an APD officer. The night Bair was arrested, he was quick to make a proclamation to deputies. Bair: “I’m pro police. I’m on your guy’s side. I don’t know what I did. I don’t know what’s going on.”
Under arrest, Bair was compliant with deputies, even telling them what they would find in his home. Bair: “You’re going to find my guns in my house. Because I’m, you know, pro.”Deputy: “Yeah, it’s not illegal to have guns.”Bair: “And they’re all registered to me, so.” Deputy: “Ok” …
