ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Filling a need in the community, a new clinic recently opened in southeast Albuquerque catering to HIV outreach efforts called “The Space” on Washington off Central. It’s a drop-in center offering free HIV rapid testing, safer sex kits, and preventative navigation. Something unique about this facility, it has community peer support groups for both teens and adults.
“Our program specialists are experts at connecting with folks who are curious about their HIV status who want to get tested,” Planned Parenthood CEO Adrienne Mansanares said. “But who also might be questioning or curious about their own sexuality. So we have a host of programs whether it’s peer educating programs, direct testing, but more importantly we create a space where everyone feels welcome.”
