ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller joined the Archdiocese of Santa Fe for a special Mass on Thursday in honor of those who spend their lives in service of others. Queen of Heaven Catholic Church hosted its 17th annual Blue Mass, an opportunity for community members to come together in a blessing for all first responders across New Mexico.

Thursday’s Mass was made even more special as Mayor Keller made a big announcement in honor of another man known for his service. “Now, on behalf of the Mayor of Albuquerque, we declare together September 17th, 2026, Archbishop John Wester Day in the city of Albuquerque,” said Mayor Keller.
Archbishop Wester has served the church since 1976, later becoming the 12th archbishop of Santa Fe in 2015. September 17 was named in his honor to recognize his lasting impact on Albuquerque and beyond, through his commitment to the community and advocacy for peace and social justice.
