ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The West Mesa High School community is mourning the loss of someone who spent years making sure the school was more than just a place to learn. Antonio Gonzales, a custodian at the school for two decades, is being remembered as a trusted friend to students, teachers, and staff.

For two decades, Antonio Gonzales was a familiar face in the halls of West Mesa High School. There was a set of keys jingling down the hallway, and every morning, a greeting for the principal he knew so well. “He loved all of the teachers, all the kids; the kids loved him. He was like a fixture around here. And I honestly, I’m going to miss his ‘Good morning, boss,’” said Michelle Torres, principal of West Mesa High School.
