NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Competitive eater Timothy Janus has died following a cancer diagnosis, according to an obituary posted on Major League Eating. He was 49 years old.

Janus competed between 2006 and 2018, a period that Major League Eating describes as “the sport’s formative years.”
He holds three records, according to the league, for eating four pounds of tiramisu in six minutes, 10.5 pounds of ramen noodles in eight minutes, and 141 pieces of nigiri sushi in six minutes…
