A joint operation in the Uptown area targeting retail theft has resulted in seven felony arrests. This includes a shoplifter known for repeatedly violating her release conditions. The operation was a joint effort between the APD’s Northeast Proactive Response Team, the Organized Crime Unit, and agents from the Attorney General’s Office. The focus was on the Uptown and San Mateo Blvd/Cutler Ave. shopping districts, with APD officers collaborating with loss prevention staff from various businesses.

Undercover surveillance was carried out in and around the businesses, with uniformed officers ready for arrests. Chief Harold Medina commended the operation, highlighting the successful partnerships APD has formed to tackle crime in the community. He committed to continue working with local, state, and federal partners to address crime in Albuquerque.

The operation led to several arrests and citations. These include Marileysi Campos for felony shoplifting, Mariah Lucero for misdemeanor shoplifting, and Matthew Gallegos for felony shoplifting and conspiracy to commit a 3rd or 4th degree felony. Other individuals were arrested for crimes such as criminal trespass and handling stolen property.
