ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man is behind bars after trying to escape through the ceiling of a Downtown hospital.
Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Lovelace Hospital on Friday night where they found 60-year-old Stevem Byers, who was under arrest and waiting for medical attention.
Police alleged, during a medical evaluation, Byers asked to use the restroom.
The criminal complaint said, while he was in the bathroom, a deputy heard a loud noise coming from the ceiling.

When the deputy checked on Byers, he found a trash can flipped over and ceiling panels moved with no sign of the suspect in the restroom.
Authorities followed the noise above, and they eventually caught up with him in the ceiling.
