Albuquerque’s country music festival Boots in the Park has most successful year yet

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque’s biggest country music festival is closing out day two on Saturday night. Boots in the Park organizers said it’s been their biggest turnout yet, selling approximately 60,000 tickets this year.

The record-breaking third year of the festival nearly sold out. Organizers credit the growth of the festival to bigger names playing the stages and expanding their size and allowances. “Record-breaking crowds this weekend,” Activated Events CEO Steve Thacher said. “We’re at 30,000 per day, we’re basically sold out. The bigger and bigger the lineups get, more people are coming from out of town as well.”

The festival is put on by Activated Events, who said last year that about a third of their ticket sales came from out-of-state fans. “It’s one of my first times in New Mexico, I’m from California,” festival-goer Edward Colondrez said. “I love it here. The atmosphere, everybody’s happy, everybody’s nice.”…
