DC elementary school still dealing with raccoon issue, teachers call for action

WASHINGTON (7News) — Several teachers at a Northeast, D.C., elementary school stood outside on Monday holding posters with raccoons on them, rallying for D.C. Public Schools to address a months-long issue of raccoons in their school.

The teachers at Noyes Elementary School said they can hear the animals running through the halls, and see urine stains on the tiles, and feces on the floor. They also said it’s become a distraction for the students.

D.C.’s Department of General Services wrote in a statement to school families and staff that they have made efforts to catch the animals, working with wildlife experts since May 3 to seal the building, place traps, and watch the cameras for any movement…
