WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting in the Shaw community that left one dead and another hospitalized.
The shooting happened just after 10:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of 9th Street NW, where police found two victims.
Police told DC News Now that one man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second person, a man, was taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
DC News Now contributor Larry Calhoun responded to the scene, where crime scene tape stretched into the street, blocking off the 9th Street intersection. Law enforcement officers, including the National Guard, were present.
