Virginia interstate shut down for commercial vehicle vs. sign collision

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) closed a portion of I-64 on Thursday morning for a crash involving a commercial vehicle and an overhead highway sign.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on September 5, VDOT reported that all lanes of westbound I-64 in Henrico County were closed near the I-295 exit.

Virginia State Police say that the bed of a commercial vehicle struck an overhead sign on I-64 near mile marker 200.

Local outlet 12 On Your Side reports that the truck stopped at a weigh station prior to the crash.

“Please find alternate routes if traveling through the area as crews work to safely reopen the interstate,” said the Henrico Police Department.

It isn’t clear when I-64 west could reopen. Follow Virginia 511 on Twitter for the latest traffic information.
