Regulators approve settlement, PPL distribution rate hike

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) — Electric bills will be going up next month after regulators and the power company reached an agreement.

PPL Electric Utilities, the Allentown-based power company serving much of Dauphin and Lancaster counties as well as portions of Cumberland, Perry, Juniata, Mifflin, York, and Lebanon counties, will raise distribution rates by about 3.23% for residential customers, according to an email sent to customers.

The increase will take effect on July 1 and the utility said it amounts to $6.48 per month for customers using 1,000 kWh per month…
